Charles Morris

Charles has been involved in amateur and professional astronomy for 35 years.  He is perhaps best know as the author of the Comet Observation Home Page.  As a comet observer, Charles has visually observed nearly 250 comet apparitions.  As a researcher, he is an expert in cometary light curves.   Asteroid 3783 is named "Morris" in honor of his work on comets.   Charles was a tour leader on two trips to the Southern Hemisphere to observe Halley's comet and one to Mauna Kea to observe Hale-Bopp.  He has also been a solar observer since 1967.  He has been to three total (1970, 1991, and 1999) and two annular (1992 and 1994) solar eclipses, as well as, a number of partial solar eclipses. [Charles also has an MS in atmospheric science...thus, informed decisions can be made if weather becomes an issue in observing the eclipse.]  Charles works at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
